Phase 5 - SHOOT

This is the moment of truth. The success of your hunt stands and falls with your ability to hit and kill the animal before it leaves. That's what the "shoot" phase is about. Some shots are easy, but that’s not what you should prepare for. Successful shooting requires you to be unconsciously competent.

  • 5.1 Confirm safe and clear

  • 5.2 Assume your shooting position

  • 5.3 Adjust or check sights, and chamber a round

  • 5.4 Shoot when ready

  • 5.5 Follow-through, maintain stock weld and sight picture

  • 5.6 Call the shot

  • 5.7 Reload your rifle
