Hunting phase 4 - SET UP
This checklist will help you shoot fast and straight
The set-up point is the location you shoot from. Compare that to the shooting position, which is the way you hold and stabilize your rifle when shooting from that point.
4.1 Confirm it's a safe shot
4.2 Confirm it's a clear shot
4.3 Confirm you're (sufficiently) concealed
4.4 Confirm you can hit the animal
4.5 Confirm you will kill the animal sufficiently fast
4.6 Repeat for all positions (if relevant)
Here's a note on standard operating procedures.
You could have individual procedures for multiple scenarios, but I find it easier to have a single set of procedures supported by a set of models to help you do two things
Before you get started, consider the following principles when using the phase 4 standard operating procedures.
Each hunting scenario will come with it's own critical success factors. Use these four points to assess what's important in a given situation.
Consider the differences between static (pause after the set-up) and dynamic (immediate action) hunting
Prioritise the 5 critical shot factors (Safety, Precision, Accuracy, Speed, & Stealth)
Use one of three shooting tactics (adjusted Maximum Point Blank Range, Bullet drop and MPBR windage, adjust for drop and drift)
One set-up point may have several arcs of fire with separate shooting positions
